Tells us a little about how you got into biking, where your favourite trails are and any top tips for someone starting out?
I’ve always ridden a bike, but I started off road a few years ago when my husband gave me my first hardtail for my birthday… and I realised I had no clue how to ride off road!
We live right on the South Downs, but also have a place up north so we ride a lot in Northumberland, the Lakes and Southern Scotland.
I love the natural trails around the Langdale Valley in the Lake District, but also really enjoy Glentress, Whinlatter, Hamsterley Forest and Kielder… plus the other 7 Stanes sites. But we’re always looking for new adventures with the bikes and really need to explore North Wales!
Top tip for starting out is to find a good riding buddy, do some skills sessions (really good fun!) and ride what you enjoy. Don’t feel like you have to be Rachel Atherton straight away… there’s nothing wrong in enjoying a good blue route.
Are there any other Outdoor sports you take part in?
I used to be into ocean racing when I was a lot younger and once sailed across the Atlantic! I’ve also been hang gliding in Rio, but mountain biking in Scotland or Northern England takes a lot of beating! I’m rarely happier than when I’m on my bike in a forest or on the side of a hill . We love to be out in the countryside hiking as well.
How did you discover FINDRA? What is your favourite piece of FINDRA and what do you like best about FINDRA?
I discovered FINDRA at Tweedlove a couple of years ago and instantly loved it. I have so many pieces it’s difficult to pick a favourite, but the one that seems to be the ‘go to’ piece is my purchase, the grey marl Caddon Cowl Neck (both for riding and life) partnered with my coral Betty Neck Warmer.
I love the effortless style and fit of the FINDRA clothing, the softness and functionality of the merino. To be honest, especially at this time of year, I could (and do) pretty much live in the stuff!
Lastly, What is your next big adventure?
My next big adventure… hmm … is probably to keep doing more of what we’re doing! But, I think we want to explore North Wales and bit, and maybe New Zealand and/or Argentina and Chile… all with the bikes of course!
Oh, and I really want to complete the Redbull Foxhunt this year… definitely my goal for 2017.
