Here at FINDRA, we’re always looking to bring you snippets of motivation to get you inspired for your own everyday adventures. Yesterday saw the joint FINDRA and Scottish Borders Walking Festival social walk where we explored some of the paths around Innerleithen and Traquair. It perfectly showed how you can have the best adventures not far from home and so inspired us to share how this can be done!
Quote of the Week
Book of the Week
This book by Roger Phillips has been around since the 1980s but has undergone numerous revisions until this 2014 version. Roger Phillips is an expert on wild mushroom and other foods you can forage, and this book has inspired and educated a generation of British Chefs including Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstal who says, “I can safely say that if I hadn’t picked up this book some twenty years ago I wouldn’t have eaten as well, or even lived as well, as I have. It inspired me then and it inspires me now”.
Not only does this book inform you on what is and isn’t edible in our countryside, but gives a wide selection of recipes you can make from what you find.
If you’re interested in locally grown ingredients, then this really is the best place to start!
Local Adventure Ideas
With the popularity of Instagram ever increasing, it’s easy to think that you need to travel far and wide to have great adventures and get that perfect IG shot. Whilst we love a bit of foreign travel, at FINDRA we also support the concept of local everyday adventures. Those which you don’t have to travel far to experience. Sometimes you don’t even need to leave your town! Our blog this week gave you 20 ideas, but here are our top 3:
- Try a different coffee shop each week.
- Visit the closest body of water to you.
- Find the next local festival in your area and book a ticket for a random event.
Head over to the blog to get the other ideas to create an adventure filled summer!
Music of the Week
We’re building a FINDRA Community Playlist over on Spotify, bringing you music of a rather eclectic variety! From classic dance tunes to lesser-known indie songs, we hope there’s something new in there for you. If you’ve got a favourite you’d like to hear in the playlist, drop us a tweet!
We couldn’t stop singing this classic song by Nancy Sinatra the whole way through the FINDRA walk yesterday.
“Are you ready Boots? Start walking!”
Whatever you’re up to this week, friends, remember to find your everyday adventure.
Love, Team FINDRA x
