Here at FINDRA, we’re always looking to bring you snippets of motivation to get you inspired for your own everyday adventures. Last week saw our brand ambassador, Jo Moseley, be the first woman to paddleboard from Liverpool to Goole and she’s proven that age is irrelevant to ability.
Interview with Jo
Jo Moseley, our incredible brand ambassador, just completed her Paddleboard The North challenge which saw her paddleboard 162 miles from Liverpool on the English west coast to Goole on the east coast! She used the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and Aire & Calder Navigation and became the first woman to do so. Along the way she litter picked to highlight the issue of plastic pollution in our waterways, raised money for 2 Minute Beach Clean and The Wave Project, AND showed us that adventure isn’t just for the young.
Once home, Jo was visited by the adventurer Alastair Humphreys while he was on his bike tour of Yorkshire visiting adventurous people. Such perfect timing to bring together two amazing people.
Read her interview with us over here.
‘Finding Joy’ is based on a poem Jo Moseley wrote about the joy of tiny adventures in the hills and waves. Trail running, paddleboarding, bodyboarding, wild swimming and learning to surf have helped her find peace, courage and happiness after some difficult times. Having been inactive for over 25 years until she was 48, she cherishes these tiny adventures and is grateful for every one.
This film was entered into the BMC TV Women In Adventure film competition 2019 and we love sharing it.
If you’re unsure of how to start getting into your own everyday adventures and building up to brilliant homegrown adventures like Jo’s, then this is the place to start.
After graduating from University, Alastair Humphreys set out to cycle around the world. Four years later, he returned in love with adventure. Since then, he’s rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, crossed deserts and more. Plenty of people dream about doing these huge adventures but by the time they’re able to financially do them, they feel like their age is a barrier. Well, Jo’s proven that wrong!
If you’re keen to have more adventure in your life but want to start small, then this book really will help you get going. Then, once you’ve got the adventuring bug, you never know where the world will take you.
Music of the Week
We’re building a FINDRA Community Playlist over on Spotify, bringing you music of a rather eclectic variety! From classic dance tunes to lesser-known indie songs, we hope there’s something new in there for you. If you’ve got a favourite you’d like to hear in the playlist, drop us a tweet!
Personally, we like a Coldplay song and ‘Adventures of a Lifetime’ is one of their best especially when you listen to the lyrics. “We are diamonds taking shape” suggests we all get better with age. We couldn’t agree more!
Whatever you’re up to this week, friends, remember to find your everyday adventure.
Love, Team FINDRA x
