FINDRA’s Weekly Inspiration: Sustainability is the Future

Here at FINDRA, we’re always looking to bring you snippets of motivation to get you inspired for your own everyday adventures. FINDRA’s commitment to Scottish environmental change has been recognised with a shortlisting for a VIBES Award. Sustainability and the environment is at the heart of all we do at FINDRA and there’s good news coming out of the outdoor and fashion industries!

Sustainability and the Bike Industry

Here’s our beautiful Elephant Bike with Alex in front of our Innerleithen shop. It’s usually greeting people at our front door and displaying anything from bobble hats to local flyers or socks, but did you know that every Elephant Bike has a twin?

As these Royal Mail bikes are decommissioned, they’re available for purchase instead of heading to landfill. When you buy one Elephant Bike, another goes to Malawi to be refurbished and sold to those in need of a bike to improve their lives.

VIBES Awards

FINDRA has been shortlisted for the ‘Product Scotland Award’ category in the VIBES – Scottish Environment Business Awards. This award recognises a business that has developed a product that brings both environmental and business benefits. A total of 36 businesses from across Scotland have been included in the shortlist for the prestigious awards, which are focused on inspiring companies to play their part in meeting Scotland’s ambition to be a world leader on tackling climate change.

This week Alex met with the judges from the VIBES Awards to tell them a bit more about the FINDRA ethos and what we do as a brand to ensure we take care of our customers. FINDRA exists because we care, we care about people and we care about the planet. Look out next week for Alex’s blog on how FINDRA is a sustainable brand!

Good News of the Week

It’s no secret that the fashion industry’s carbon footprint is immense so it comes as great news that it was high on the agenda of this year’s G7 Summit.

The G7 leaders were joined by 20 fashion retailers and brands to discuss a pact of shared objectives to reduce the fashion industry’s environmental impact.

Now, 32 companies (accounting for 150 brands) have joined the pact, uniting competitors in the “first-of-its-kind initiative“. The pact focuses on global warming, restoring biodiversity and preserving the oceans.

FINDRA has sustainability at its heart, so we’re very excited to hear that the tide is changing and the environment is being placed on high priority by the brands who are doing the most damage.
