Getting outdoors on a cold day

Winter Reset: Time to Emerge from Hibernation

You have done it!  You have survived the darkest days of the year, and now January is officially behind us, which means it’s time to stop hibernating and start shaking off the winter cobwebs.

Let’s emerge blinking into the pale sunlight, ready to plan some new adventures, both big and small. Whether it’s scaling mountains or getting into the garden to ready it for Spring, it’s about taking small, optimistic steps forward.

Shake Off the Slump

Let’s face it - winter isn’t the most inspiring season. Netflix has been your best friend, your sofa has a permanent dent in your shape, and you’ve forgotten what daylight looks like after 4 pm. But fear not; it’s time to move on.

Sure, it’s still cold, and a bit miserable at times, but layering up with your cosiest clothes (hello, FINDRA ) and getting outdoors into nature and fresh air will do wonders. Lets not get ahead of ourselves, maybe just walk to your the local café for a well-earned cuppa and cake.

Plan Some Joy

Not ready to summit Ben Nevis? That’s absolutely fine. February can be all about small joys. Little things like researching new trails, reorganizing your kitchen, or making plans for trips with friends (get these dates in the diary - we are always so busy!).

For the overachievers among us, this might be the perfect time to dust off those big adventure ideas. Want to tackle the North Coast 500 on two wheels? Or maybe finally book that wild swimming retreat? Get it on the calendar, and revel in the smug satisfaction of being that person who plans ahead.

Channel Your Inner Optimist

It’s easy to feel like winter is dragging, but don’t let the gloom win. February is here, the days are getting lighter, and spring is just around the corner. What better time to channel a bit of optimism?

Maybe it’s treating yourself to a new piece of kit that makes you excited to get outdoors. Or setting small, achievable goals - like finally conquering that hill you’ve been staring at from your kitchen window. Whatever sparks joy, go for it.

Celebrate the Small Wins

In order to get excited about something, channel those small, satisfying moments that make you feel like you’ve got your life together. Successfully made it out of the house before 10 am on a Saturday? Well done, you! Remember to bring a reusable coffee cup for your takeout flat white? Award yourself a gold star.

We think you should celebrate all adventures - whether it’s a five-mile hike or a trip to the garden centre to buy those Spring bulbs,  do what you need to do to get ready for whatever this year throws at you!

Here’s to new adventures, however big or small!
