At FINDRA, we've always been driven by the belief that women deserve activewear that not only performs exceptionally but also aligns with their values and unique sense of style. It's this passion that led to the creation of our latest offering, the Leena Leggings. These leggings embody our commitment to sustainability, versatility, and style, and I'm excited to share the journey behind their creation.
The Power of Sustainable Materials
One of the cornerstones of FINDRA's approach to design is sustainability. As people who love value and respect the outdoors, we care deeply about living and working in a way that doesn't cause any additional, unnecessary harm to the environment and planet. As a clothing brand we have an additional responsibility to ensure the products we design and retail have longevity, and use natural or recycled raw materials to combat our impact.
Back in 2016 I designed our first FINDRA legging, the Tiree printed legging, it was a great success but it wasn't made from a recycled material and I felt it was crucial that we sourced a high quality sustainable fabric before we produced any more. And so began the journey that has taken us almost 4 years, which seems ridiculous, but as a small brand looking to source high quality sustainable materials there are many challenges.
Finally in 2019 just before lockdown we made a break through. Having visited a fabric trade show we discovered Econyl, a recycled nylon fabric made in Italy, which we believed would be perfect for both our padded and non padded leggings. Econyl is a revolutionary material crafted from discarded nylon waste, such as old fishing nets and industrial fabric scraps. It's not just about creating beautiful activewear; it's about doing it responsibly.
Econyl has many industry certifications, with the supplier of Econyl adhering to the Global Recycled Standard, which ensures fabric is created in line with social and environmental criteria.
OEKO-TEX® RECYCLED certified sustainable fabrics. This standard ensures that fabrics are made they are made with at least 20% recycled polyester or polyamide and regenerated nylon whose origins can be traced.
The product design
Having sourced our ideal fabric it was time to start designing, the product, thinking about the shape, fit and details of the design.

Every pair of Leena Leggings is meticulously crafted, ensuring they stand up to the demands of activities like hiking, running, yoga, and everyday wear.
